China Gems Tour Itinerary
DAY 1, Saturday, October 8, 2016- Depart for China from New York:
Depart for China. Due to current security wait times it is highly recommended that you check in for your flight no later than 3.5 hours prior to scheduled departure.
DAY 2, Sunday, October 9, 2016 - Arrive in Beijing:
Upon arrival in Beijing you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of this day is free.
DAY 3, Monday, October 10, 2016 - Beijing
Today we will tour the Great Wall of China, the longest man-made structure on Earth, more than 2000 years old and spanning nearly 4,000 miles of China's northern frontier. There will be time to mount the ramparts of this ancient wonder to view beautiful mountain passes, plateaus and grasslands from this 7th-century defensive fortification. We will also visit the Ming Tombs, a collection of mausoleums built by the Chinese Ming Dynasty Emperor.
We will break for lunch at a local restaurant and a brief visit to a jade shop on the way back to Beijing. In the evening we will get to know each other better over a Peking Duck Dinner.

DAY 4, Tuesday, October 11, 2016 - Beijing
Today we tour the astonishing Forbidden City (Imperial Palace). This massive walled complex known as the Palace Museum is truly a masterpiece of Chinese architecture. It consists of 800 buildings with more than 9,000 rooms. After lunch, the tour ends with a drive outside the city to the fabled Summer Palace, resort of the Empress Dowager. The evening is free to explore Beijing.

DAY 5, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 - Flight to Xian
This morning we fly to Xian. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure, to explore Xian at your own pace. In the evening, we will attend the Tang Dynasty Show that includes an Imperial Dinner and performance of historical 1,000-year-old dances

DAY 6, Thursday, October 13, 2016 - Xian
Today we explore the archaeological site of the magnificent Terra Cotta Warriors, a vast collection of life-sized soldiers, horses and chariots that were entombed with China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. This world-famous site, discovered in 1974, is still being excavated today. Later, enjoy an optional Dumpling Banquet Dinner that features nearly 20 different varieties of delectable dumplings

DAY 7, Friday, October 14, 2016 - Flight to Shanghai
This afternoon, we fly to Shanghai. Decompress a bit before we experience some local Shanghai cuisine at a local restaurant and explore the Bund waterfront and enjoy the illuminated night skyline by cruise

DAY 8, Saturday, October 15, 2016- Shanghai
Wander the classical Yu Yuan Garden, built during the Ming Dynasty by the high-ranking government official Pan Yunduan. The Gardens' total area occupies approximately five acres, and features pavilions, ponds, rockeries, cloisters, and streams all within six scenic zones, including the Sansui Hall and Wanhua Chamber. In existence for 400 years, the Garden was specifically constructed for Pan's aging parents as a sanctuary in which to live out their lives.
Our explorations continue with a visit to the Jade Buddha Temple which is the most famous Buddhist temple in Shanghai. Built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty to enshrine two beautiful jade Buddha statues that were brought from Burma, it is also one of the most active temples in Shanghai. We’ll stop at local carpet and embroidery shops on the way back to the hotel.
Relax and freshen up before we dine at a local restaurant and attend a performance by world-famous Chinese acrobats that includes dance, music, magic, and amazing acrobatics.

DAY 9, Sunday, October 16, 2016 - Full Day in Shanghai
Today you can opt to explore Shanghai at your own pace. Browse the trendy shops and galleries along Taikang Road, wander along the narrow alleyways that lead to bustling markets, or, join the optional full day tour to Suzhou, known as the "Venice of the East". In Suzhou, you'll see the canals, stone bridges, pagodas, and meticulously designed gardens designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In either case your evening is free to
